while challenging the way God may appear in certain biblical traditions may seem antithetical to the model of faith and/or model of biblical inspiration embraced by some contemporary believers, this is certainly not the case in Scripture. For the essence of faith in Scripture is not about blind submission to authoritative traditions or the quest for psychological certainty. It is rather an “Israelite” faith in which the depth of a person’s faith in God is sometimes reflected precisely in their willingness
